What is the valve made of?

The LOTUS Edge aortic valve is made up of a wire valve frame and bovine (cow) animal tissue leaflets.

Will the LOTUS Edge device rust?

No, the device is made from a special medical-grade alloy that will not rust.

Is the device MRI compatible?

LOTUS Edge will not hamper the ability to perform medical imaging procedures such as MRI scans, X-rays, and CT scans. However, you should always notify your doctor that you have an artificial valve beforehand.

Should I tell all my health care providers I have a replacement valve?

Yes. Your TAVR procedure is now an important part of your medical history. You will receive an identification card with information about your heart valve. Always carry this card with you. Be sure to share this information with all of your healthcare providers.

Is the LOTUS Edge device FDA approved?

Yes. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the LOTUS Edge Aortic Valve System in April, 2019.
